Dr. Manolis Terrovitis is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Institute for the Management of Information Systems of the Research Center "Athena", since 2008. He received his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2001) and his PhD (2007) from the National Technical University of Athens. Following the completion of this PhD thesis, he joined in 2007 the Department of Computer Science of the University of Hong Kong as a Post-Doctoral Researcher for 1 year. He has worked as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Peloponnese (2008-2011) and at the National Technical University of Athens (2007-2010), teaching courses related to data management. In 2010 he worked as consultant on the development of guidelines for open data for the Greek Special Secretariat for Digital Planning.
His main research interests include: (a) Privacy preservation: Anonymization methods for spatial and multidimensional data, privacy in social networks, text anonymization, functional dependencies in privacy preserving publications (b) Databases: indexing for multidimensional data, query evaluation, containment queries, (c) Spatiotemporal data management: shortest path queries, graph management, indexing for spatiotemporal data.
